Nearly 25,000 Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Around twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Broad Damage
Locals witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams received 598 calls for help across the state, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing area - numerous emergency calls
- Wyndham region - over 175 emergency requests
At one point on Sunday, over 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after past events where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
